Pleurobranchus forskalii

Indian and western Pacific oceans.

Large slug mostly seen on night dives. Large colour variation but almost always displaying a circle or semi-circle pattern on the dorsum. It has a raised extension at the rear end.

Seen crawling across sandy or rubble bottoms.

Previous name - Pleurobranchus semperi was for the light coloured morph. Now it is understood that the same species has a wide colour variation.

Pleurobranchus forskalii - may be red (as this one) or light coloured.
